Claims 101: What You Need to Know
Updated: May 5
Navigating the claims process can be intimidating and time consuming. That’s why it is important to have a responsive insurance agency like the Eric L. Ash Insurance Agency in your corner.
The first determination to be made is deciding if a claim should be filed. Claims can rate on your policy for 5 years. You should call your agent directly so that they can provide you with the amount of your deductible. You can then get an estimate to determine if the damage is more than your deductible.

When calling our office to report a claim, we will first want to make sure you are ok and there are not any injuries. We will then help you to get the claim filed with your insurance carrier. The carrier will go over the next steps.
When you file a claim, you are responsible for paying the deductible amount regardless of fault. If you are determined not-at-fault, the insurance company will help to get the deductible amount reimbursed to you. This process is called subrogation. This process will only go as fast as the other company will respond to the request.

The claims process can take time (especially when mother nature decides to throw in a wind or hailstorm and the adjusters are inundated with claims.) This is why it is so important to have a responsive agent that can help the process along. At the Eric L. Ash Insurance Agency, we help navigate the claims process to get you on your way.
